Privacy
PSI Haze is run by Rabbit & Ox Pte Ltd, Singapore. We don't ask for your name, email or phone number, and there are no accounts. Here is everything the site does collect.
Visit statistics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It sets cookies in your browser and records the pages you view, your device and browser type, the site that sent you here, and your approximate location (country or city, worked out from your internet address). We only see totals, not individual people. Google processes this data under its privacy policy.
Alerts
If you turn on alerts, your browser gives us a notification address: a long code issued by Apple, Google or Mozilla that lets us send notifications to that browser. It doesn't tell us who you are. We store it with the alerts you chose and the date you signed up, and use it only to send those alerts.
Turning alerts off deletes it straight away. If your browser stops accepting our notifications, we delete it the next time we try to send one.
On your device
Your alert choices are also saved in your own browser, so the switches remember how you set them. This stays on your device.
Finding free masks
On the free masks page, "Use my location" uses your location in your browser to sort the collection points by distance. It isn't sent to us. If you type a postal code instead, your browser looks it up with OneMap, the Singapore Land Authority's map service, under its terms of use. We don't see or store it.
The iPhone app
The PSI Haze app and its widgets don't use Google Analytics or any other tracking, and don't ask for an account. They download the latest readings from this website, so the hosting logs below apply.
If you turn on "Nearest to me", the app and widgets use your phone's location to pick the closest of NEA's five regions. Your location stays on your phone and is never sent to us. You can turn it off in the app, or in your iPhone's Settings under Privacy & Security, Location Services.
Hosting
The site runs on Vercel, and alert subscriptions are stored with Upstash. Like any web host, Vercel keeps short-lived server logs, including internet addresses, for security and to fix problems.
What we don't do
We don't sell or share your data, show ads, or try to identify you. The air quality readings are public data from NEA via data.gov.sg.
Your choices
- Block or clear cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works the same either way.
- Turn alerts off at any time from the Alerts box on the home page.
